Well, I did try OpenGEU 8.04 with the Enlightenment DR17 desktop, and it's really nice! But it's still a little too buggy for me to use on a daily basis. One day, when DR17 is stable, I shall try it again.

So I'm back to Intrepid Ibex and the GNOME desktop. I've reinstalled the global menu again, a more up-to-date version, and it's now, in my opinion, AWESOME. This is possibly the closest I've ever got my Linux box to look like Mac OS X Leopard.

So...

GTK Theme: Leopardish (on gnome-look.org)
Metacity: Leopardish
Icon Theme: LeopardX (on gnome-look again)
Wallpaper: Giants Causeway (on Interfacelift.com)
Fonts: AquaBase (better than Lucida Grande, IMO)
Dock: Cairo-Dock is using nardoxic's port of the AluCurved 3D skin [link] - the icons are native to Cairo-Dock and the indicators can be found here [link]
Screenlets: NowPlaying screenlet using the SimpleOnev2_shadows skin (modded) (gnome-look again)

The apps you can see are Empathy and Pcmanfm.

Compile and install the global menu applet [link] , use the Leopardish GTK Theme, size the panel at 22 pixels and make the panel 70% opaque with Compiz Fusion.

Maybe one day, I DID used to be on Arch and thoroughly enjoyed. Then one day it updated my GNOME libraries and desktop and I couldn't log in anymore.

If I'm gunna give Arch a go again, I'll my friend to come round and basically run me through it all again. It still overwhelms me.

Cheers! I don't know about bugging with the user/shutdown applet,, but the site maintains that it still crashes with the fast-switch user applet, if that's what you mean.

The icons are my doing. =3
