I like your menubar and i'm just curious how you made it... and what does the "people" item do?

That is the "Gimmie" application. You can add it to your panel or start it as a dock-like application. In the preferences for it, I always disable the topic colours and have text only. The "people" function lists who's online or not in your IM contacts and you can make several actions. It's pretty cool. Gimmie's in the Ubuntu repositories.

I often use Gimmie to "fake" a Mac menubar.

Ah yeah I'd seen it before but i never bothered to actually install it, because to tell you the truth it looked quite tacky with all the bright colors. But now I see that you can make it look pretty sweet, and plus you get to see who's online, THAT'S FRIGGIN AWESOME! Installing it right away.

Awesome. Yeah, it was quite tacky to start with but it's developed quite a lot. I quite like it.

Yeah I installed it and I'm liking it so far. It's very unique in the way that it handles everything on the computer from one menu. I've been looking for an app like this for a while now. Plus it has all your buddies under the people list... it's really awesome.

Oh yes. It's come on in leaps and bounds now. I've not used it as a dock yet, but I'm looking at ways of using it as a dock for my next screenshot. We'll see. In any case, it's a damned useful panel app.

Yeah... lol my love for it didn't last too long. It was using way too much memory for me on my crappy laptop, it only has 500 megs of ram and it was using around 30 and really slowing everything up. Plus I noticed after i signed out and signed back in, it didn't display my online buddies anymore... weird. Anyways i might try it again later once i set up my other computer. We just moved about 3 months ago and just now setting stuff up again.
